SIMENA Takes the Cover of BOAT International
September 2026 - News
ARES Yachts’ 62-metre flagship sailing yacht SIMENA takes centre stage on the cover of BOAT International’s July 2026 issue, accompanied by an extensive feature exploring her design, craftsmanship and performance.

SIMENA appears on the cover beneath the headline “Sail Into Summer – Dreaming big on 62-metre Simena.” Inside, the story continues with the feature “Ketch Me If You Can,” written by Sam Fortescue following his time on board the yacht.
The article traces SIMENA’s journey as ARES Yachts’ first superyacht, highlighting the balance between her classically inspired character and contemporary approach to cruising. Her exterior by Taka Yacht Design draws inspiration from traditional Turkish gulets and classic clipper ships, with her long bowsprit, mahogany detailing and low-profile superstructure creating what BOAT International describes as “a definite air of romance.”

The feature also explores the level of craftsmanship behind the project and ARES Yachts’ transition into the superyacht world. Reflecting on this process, Yacht Projects Director Piraye Şahinkaya Orhun notes:
“The biggest challenge was not technical capability, it was mindset.”
Inside, Design Unlimited brings a contemporary interpretation to SIMENA’s classic character through stained oak, woven leather, brass detailing and bespoke elements throughout. As associate designer John Everett explains, the intention was to take the yacht’s classical exterior and give the interior “a modern take.”
Beyond her design, the article highlights SIMENA’s capabilities as a true long-range sailing yacht. Her hybrid propulsion system and approximately 4,000-nautical-mile range at nine knots underline a project conceived not only for Mediterranean cruising, but for journeys much further afield.
SIMENA’s appearance on the cover of BOAT International, together with the extensive feature dedicated to her story, marks another significant milestone for both the yacht and ARES Yachts, bringing the shipyard’s craftsmanship, engineering heritage and vision for modern-classic sailing to an international audience.
